Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum organizes various temporary exhibitions related to ceramics, and offers permanent exhibitions featuring museum-owned works of ceramics. We also collect and preserve valuable works, and ceramics-related artifacts and documents. At the Ceramic Craft Studio, visitors can participate in a workshop to experience pottery-making and ceramic painting.
Services Offered by the Museum
・The Museum serves as a channel for introducing ceramics from Japan and around the world, covering primitive times to the present. We also present works of known domestic and international artists in a variety of thematic exhibitions.
・ At the Ceramic Craft Studio, visitors can participate in a workshop to experience pottery-making and ceramic painting under the guidance of instructors. We also offer pottery classes for students of all levels.
・At the Reminiscence of the Kilns I and II, old kilns excavated from the Museum’s premises are on display. The Kilns Plaza presents reproductions of ogama (large tunnel kiln) and noborigama (climbing kiln) used in the Seto and Mino Regions in the past. Every year, noborigama is actually used for firing pottery.
・The No. 8 Gallery on the first floor of the Main Gallery can be used for ceramics exhibitions organized by the public. The Video Section and the Multi-purpose Hall on the first floor of the Main Gallery, and the Library on the third floor of the same building, are also open to the public.
・Upon request, the Museum can assist persons with disabilities in providing guidance and commentary. Depending on the needed assistance, we may not be able to accommodate on the day of the visit. Reservations are required for a guided tour by a curator.
